about
OTRIAD
The Poles. Russians and French had a talent for resistance it would seem. I came across a shared Russian and Polish word ‘Otriad’’ meaning a team of workers or brigade of soldiers. I also found a shared motto: 'W imię Boga za Naszą i Waszą Wolność' which means ‘In the name of God, for our freedom and for yours’.
Many of these units fought under the emblem of the ‘Kotwica’ or Anchor and would continue to fight invasion in a manner that would ultimately see some become as violent as those who had oppressed them. Survival at the expense of losing your humanity was the price many paid to eventually secure victory for the nations that used them and cast them aside. It should be mentioned that many of these fighters were young women who decided to stop running and become the hunters.
lyrics
Found, armed, gaining ground
Our blood screams defiance
The hunters return, the white eagle flies
You can’t escape as the wolves close in
Eyes, glint, in the dark
Sowing death in the moonlight
The mighty will fall to a shadow unseen
You can’t escape as the wolves close in
You can bury all your children on the frontline
But remember that you came here for a war
For too long, on the run, we were hunted
But these woods belong to us
What are you fighting for?
Blind, shock, in retreat
See the dances of dead men
Fearlessly empty, relentlessly prowl
You won’t escape now the wolves close in
Here, dark, in the trees
By the seed of our fathers
All is made clear in a world black and white
The land will live even set alight
You can bury all your children on the frontline
But remember that you came here for a war
For too long, on the run, we were hunted
But these woods belong to us
What are you fighting for?
You can bury all the children on the frontline
Send the sons of a nation to the ground
And the coward will run when confronted
But our fate belongs to us
What are you fighting for?
We are the anchor
We are the ones who stand alone
Shoulder to shoulder
Our blood made the bargain
Bought and sold
Over and over
We stalk through the night to save our home
Proud to give up our lives
In the name of God
For our freedom and for yours
Found, armed, gaining ground
In a blood soaked defiance
Here, armed, staring down
No honour, no mercy for tyrants
You can bury all your children on the frontline
But remember that you came here for a war
For too long, on the run, we were hunted
But these woods belong to us
What are you fighting for?
We are the anchor
We are the ones who stand alone
Shoulder to shoulder
Our blood made the bargain
Bought and sold
Some like to believe that we are waiting dead
But we are the lingering light of love itself
Leaving bright traces as legacy strides
And I for one am proud to be my ancestors
And to walk tall on this earth as avatar to my blood
We are the anchor
We are the ones who stand alone
Shoulder to shoulder
Our blood made the bargain
Bought and sold
Over and over
We stalk through the night to save our home
Made to give up our lives
In the name of God
For our freedom and for yours
We were the anger
We were the shadows coming home
We were the sacrifice
In the name of God
For our freedom and for yours
