ANDERS’ PRAYER
Inspired by Władysław Anders’ 2nd Corps and their journey from Russia through Europe and Iran to Palestine.
Initially formed under Soviet command, ‘Anders’ Army’ was made up of Polish POWs, partisan units and Jewish fighters displaced from both Soviet and Axis campaigns. Their journey saw them fight across Russia liberating concentration camps and escorting Jewish survivors all the way to Palestine. They eventually transferred to British command and served during the Italian campaign. There is a memorial to Anders and the 2nd Corps at the Jewish Orthodox cemetery on Mount Zion.
